Book Review: Dangerous Benefits by Rickie Blair

Dangerous Benefits by Rickie Blair is book number 2 in the Ruby Danger series. I reviewed the first book here.

In Dangerous Benefits, we reunite with our heroine Ruby Danger (Delaney really, but everyone calls her Ruby Danger) after she and her friend Hari Bhatt have acted on their hopes of founding a financial fraud investigation service, and their first case is a big one. A whistleblower alleges fraud at one of Wall Street’s most reputable firms, and then disappears.

The plot is more complicated than Blair’s last book, with more characters of which to keep track. It also gets off to a slower, tougher to follow start. But at the end, the suspense is tight and the action is intense.

All of that is before the author guides the reader to a really good surprise ending that gave me goosebumps it was such a reveal. The ending will definitely repay your effort to get through the slower start.

There is a somewhat racy scene near the start of the book, for those who like to be prepared for such things.

You should read Dangerous Benefits because it’s suspenseful, full of surprises, and gives you an interesting look at the world of high finance.

And if you haven’t already, you should vote for my novel, The Prophet Conspiracy, in the Kindle Scout program, because you’ll get free sample chapters and, if we win, you’ll get a free copy of the book.
